GLYCOLS

Antifreeze is a substance added to a liquid such as water to reduce its freezing point. Antifreeze is typically a mix of distilled water with a core product – ethylene or propylene glycol.

Antifreeze has two purposes: to lower the freezing point of a liquid in a cooling system and to raise the boiling point of water. An antifreeze solution makes it possible to move freely in cooling systems by avoiding the formation of ice in winter conditions and by preventing overheating conditions.

Glycol is an organic chemical compound that belongs to an alcohol group. It is used as a heat-carrying fluid or a cooling liquid.

Ethylene glycol (ETH26100)

Ethylene glycol is mostly known and used as an antifreeze and a refrigerant. It is also used in the manufacturing of textile fibers, and polyester resins, the primary material of water bottles. Ethylene glycol is toxic if swallowed. Biodegradable. Available in several concentrations and several formats.

Propylene glycol (PRO53385)

Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid that absorbs water. It is mostly used in the heating and cooling systems, electronic cigarettes (vaping liquid), the drug and cosmetic industry, the textile industry, the entertainment industry (e.g. to supply smoke machines) and the aircraft industry. Non-toxic. Biodegradable. Available in several concentrations and several formats.

Propylene glycol 99.9% USP Food grade

For use in several food industries. We have a federal certificate of authorization from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency under number S-796. Available in several concentrations and several formats.

The Simfrost which is propylene glycol-based, and the Simtherm which is an ethylene glycol-based, are used in heating and cooling systems, and in a host of de-icing, defrosting and dehumidification applications. These products are offered in different concentrations. To avoid all these potential performance problems, this solution is diluted with demineralized and deionized water, and inhibitors specially formulated against corrosion are added.

Simtherm :

  • Ethylene glycol-based.
  • Colorless. The fluid is colored red because of its toxicity and to detect leaks quickly.
  • Excellent protection against freezing and bursting.
  • Enhanced energy efficiency.
  • Toxic in terms of health and safety.
  • Less viscous solution.
  • Biodegradable.

Geotherm is a biodegradable product used as an antifreeze liquid in geothermic and heating floors. It is a denatured alcohol-based thermal formula with inhibitors against copper or steel corrosion to eliminate rust following the deterioration of metals. Available in several concentrations.

A long-lasting formulation is available and ready to use. Using long-lasting antifreeze allows to extend the drainage interval of the cooling circuit up to 300,000 miles, 6,000 hours or four years (first limit reached). Compatible with an aluminum engine.
